Advanced Ball Bearing System:

The XR770 high-precision ABEC 7 angular contact dual-row ball bearing cartridge utilises a unique system. Its M62 tool steel races and silicon nitride ceramic balls deliver the highest possible load capacity, and its metallic retainers won’t melt.

This design delivers exceptional load capacity, and with a variable preload system, the bearing seamlessly introduces additional preload when needed and less when it isn’t, extending its lifespan and optimising performance.

The ball-bearing technology here is the same as what is used in AET’s LMP and Rallycross championship winning turbos, making it the ideal choice for high-performance applications.

Superior Construction:

Xona Rotor start with a brand new, genuine BorgWarner B03G turbo (1855-988-0036), and the first step is setting aside the entire CHRA. The new bearing housing is then designed, engineered, and machined in-house at their facility in Owosso, MI, USA, using high strength billet stainless steel. This process ensures a lightweight, precision fit without the need to change oil or water lines.

The compressor wheel is point-milled from aluminium, featuring a 5+5 blade design for maximum airflow and superior efficiency compared to the cheaper flank-milled wheels.

Due to the increased size of the exducer blades on the turbine wheel, modifications are required in the turbine housing. Typically, there is a wall within the casting that separates the turbine wheel, but after machining to accommodate the larger wheel, this wall is removed, leaving a significant pocket. Xona addresses this by using intricate welding to reconstruct the wall. By recreating this wall, Xona preserves the turbine's efficiency, ensuring optimal transfer of energy to rotational speed.

The turbo also includes an up-rated heat shield manufactured from billet 316 stainless steel to correctly match the turbine wheel inducer diameter, providing maximum heat resistance and efficiency.

Ultra High Flow (UHF) Design:

The turbine wheel features a 10-blade design, offering the spool capabilities of a 10-blade design, but the increased flow capacity associated with a 9-blade turbine.

Compressor Housing & Cover:

The compressor cover is completely re-engineered with a billet aluminium inlet and diffuser, specifically designed to increase surge resistance and maximise airflow.

The compressor cover has been CNC re-profiled to accommodate Xona's specially designed 5+5 blade compressor wheel. This precise modification ensures an optimal fit and smoother airflow, contributing to greater overall performance and efficiency.

Heat Shielding & Durability:

The turbo comes equipped with OE-grade heat shielding to the exhaust manifold and housing, designed to withstand extreme temperatures and maintain performance under intense conditions.

A port-matched manifold encourages better airflow with fewer constrictions.

This procedure is highly recommended by AET, and is performed in AET’s CNC department for an additional fee of only £200 + VAT.
